Course Title:
Fifth Grade: World War II
Prerequisites:
Students must be at least a rising 5th grader to participate in this course.
Description:
Students will analyze the role of key figures and dictators during World War II and the policy of appeasement. Students will explore the principal events related to the involvement of the United States in World War II, including the campaigns in North Africa and the Mediterranean; major battles of the European theater, such as the Battle of Britain, the invasion of the Soviet Union; and events in the Pacific theater such as Pearl Harbor, island-hopping, and the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Students will also summarize the social and political impact of the war on the American home front and summarize key developments in technology and their effects on World War II and the United States economy.
